Two Police reservists and Rapid Deployment Unit officer were injured in an ambush by suspected armed Pokot bandits in Ramacha, Baringo South on Saturday.
The three are receiving treatment at Baringo County Referral Hospital in Kabarnet town.
The officers were accompanying the Tugen and Ilchamus residents in bush clearing operation to resettle thousands of residents displaced by bandits attack since 2005.
“The officers were conducting normal border patrols when the armed bandits laid ambush and shot in the air around 2 pm,” Arabal Location Chief William Koech said.
The incident comes barely three days after a Tugen herder was shot and injured in the same area.
On Friday the Tugen and Ilchamus residents armed with Pangas and arrows vowed to fight for their resettlement, “even if it means dying for our rights” they said.
Last week Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mongo Chimwanga denied renewed attacks in Baringo terming it rumours.
