Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma has welcomed an announcement that Kenya will host 2020 Chief Executives Board meeting of United Nations heads.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced this on Friday.
“I welcome the announcement by Guterres…this demonstrates the growing role of Nairobi as a convening city of choice for international meetings,”she said via Twitter on Saturday.
Juma added, “Nairobi is where significant decisions that shape global policy are evolved. Nairobi will be ready to host the United Nations Executive Board in 2020.”
The Board first held its meeting at the UN Office in Nairobi (UNON) in 2011.
UNON is one of the four major UN stations where UN agencies have joint presence and the only one in the Global South. Other UN offices are in New York, Geneva and Vienna.
