GSU officer commits suicide in Kwale

Police in Kwale are investigating an incident in which a GSU officer committed suicide in Kinango subcounty.

Thomas Kibet Chepkwony, 26, who was attached to Mackinnon GSU camp, shot himself in the head using a G3 riffle on Sunday.

According to a report from Taru police station, Chepkwony pointed the gun at the top of his head and pulled the trigger. The bullet exited through his chin.

The body was taken to Voi Hospital mortuary.

The Kwale security department called for a good working relationship among police officers, saying some are stressed by family issues which can lead to suicide.
