Nasa team yesterday took their campaigns to Nyamira where they insisted they would conduct parallel vote tallying alongside the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC).
The team which was led by the Nasa presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga, running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and co-principals Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi also said they have formed a security team which will be deployed to all polling centres to counter any move to rig the election.
Speaking at Magwagwa, Ikonge, Magombo, Kebirigo and Rigoma market centres, Raila said each polling centre could have five people to guard against rigging, adding that Nasa team would count, tally and announce the results alongside the IEBC’s system.
He urged supporters to stay at polling centres after voting to “guard their votes”. Kalonzo accused Jubilee administration of discriminating against the Internally Displaced Persons in Kisii in regard to compensation.
Mudavadi said the Jubilee Party was bragging of projects which were initiated by retired President Kibaki and Raila. He said all the promises Uhuru made had failed, citing the laptop project.
On IDPs, Wetang’ula said Jubilee was giving them money as a bait so that they can get their votes. He asked the people of Nyamira to reject Jubilee at the ballot, accusing the regime of planning to use them to realise political dreams and thereafter dump them.
Raila also termed area leaders Joseph Kiangoi and Chris Obure as traitors who ODM party assisted to get seats and they ditched it. He asked the electorate to reject their bids because they had disowned them during the time of need.
Governor John Nyagarama, Timothy Bosire, Charles Geni, Victor Sawanya, Mose Nyambega, Ben Momanyi and Steve Mogaka declared Nyamira a Nasa zone and vowed to mobilise residents to vote for Raila for presidency.
